Savor the ultimate food experiences in Chicago

The Windy City has an appetite. In the winter, residents eat and drink to stave off the cold, but after months of snow and tundra-like temperatures, everyone rushes to eat outside when it gets above 60 degrees.

In a city that's often most closely associated with deep-dish pizza and hot dogs, some might be surprised that Chicago's dynamic dining has made it a culinary destination for well-traveled foodies. But this is a big city that feels small, thanks to hundreds of neighborhoods where you can find anything you want — from Polish to Thai.

Chicago's world-class dining scene features a slew of James Beard award-winning chefs and Michelin-rated restaurants (19 were awarded Michelin stars and 64 received Bib Gourmands in 2013). Even with a high-class culinary buffet of options, Chicagoans are still down-to-earth and love comfort foods, brunch places and all things pork.

ONLY IN CHICAGO: DEEP-DISH NIRVANA
Chicago's favorite deep dish pizza is always up for debate. Many prefer Lou Malnati's with its butter crust or Pequod's Pizza. But Giordano's has a great filling and a tasty sauce in a sloppy cheesy pie of deliciousness. Try the tropical delight with Canadian bacon and pineapple or get spinach and pepperoni mixed together. Most locations are touristy hot spots since locals typically order out rather than eating in.

Savor the ultimate food experiences in New Orleans

If you've never dined in New Orleans, then you've never dined at all. In this city, synonymous with resilience and rebirth, people live to eat. And it takes more than a hurricane or an oil spill to make New Orleanians lose their appetite.

New Orleanians know how to celebrate life — craft cocktails have been worshipped here since an enterprising Creole created the Sazerac in the mid 1800s. Tourists love that they can order drinks to go, and walking with a libation is both legal and encouraged.

Here, when one meal is done, it's time to argue about what to eat next. From po'boys to Gulf seafood served Rockefeller-style, etoufee, or remoulade, chefs both humble and schooled balance tradition with innovation. The New Orleans table reflects French, Spanish, West African and Caribbean roots, as well as the comfort foods brought by immigrants from Ireland, Italy, Germany and Southeast Asia. Stewed together, you get the ultimate dining destination.

Naples knows how to eat! The options are endless from local diner dives to affordable, family-friendly restaurants and award-winning gourmet bistros.

Once a quiet, upscale winter retreat that would make you think of a ghost town during long, sleepy summers, Naples is anything but that today. Naples has experienced a true renaissance, evolving into a popular — and well-populated — year-round playground. It’s alive with people, plus enough dining options to satisfy the pickiest of palates. Want a sizzling, mouthwatering steak, fresh seafood, ethnic dishes and or the ultimate in a fine dining experience?  Naples will never disappoint! You, too, can have your pick of whatever you’re craving, choosing from casual, family-friendly venues or swankier, albeit pricier locales.

Chances are, you’re drawn to Naples because of the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico. And there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy waterfront dining, complete with light, warm breezes and romantic sunsets.  Some of our favorites: The Village on Venetian Bay and the Waterside Shops at Pelican Bay.

For some equally intriguing urban hot spots in other key Naples’ areas, look for restaurants on Fifth Avenue South, Third Street South in Old Naples, at Tin City, and along U.S. 41 heading north to Ft. Myers.

Want the familiarity of a reputable, nationally recognized restaurant? Try something savory like the hearty portions served at Bravo Cucina Italiana, Capital Grill’s predictably delicious steaks, and the specialties from McCormick and Schmick, located at The Mercato.
